Frequently Asked Questions
Everything riders ask us before booking an 11:11 Tinto y Carretera experience. Don't see your question? Reach out and we'll answer directly.
Your Trip & Group
I'm traveling solo. Is that okay?
Yes. Every experience is guided in a small group, so you're never riding alone — solo travelers join us all the time and often end up riding alongside people they just met.
Can my partner ride as a passenger?
Yes, on request. Let us know when you reserve so we can plan the right motorcycle and route for a passenger.
Do you offer group discounts?
For private groups and multi-rider bookings, tell us your group size when you reach out and we'll put together a tailored quote.
Do you pick up from Medellín's airport?
Yes — airport transfers can be arranged as part of your itinerary. Mention it when you reserve.
Can I start or end somewhere other than Medellín?
All experiences are based out of Medellín. For the Grand Condor Journey and the fifteen-day expedition, ask us about alternate pickup or drop-off points when you reserve.
Can you customize a tour for us?
The Grand Condor Journey follows a fixed five-day itinerary built to show you the best of the Andes. The fifteen-day ultra-premium expedition, on the other hand, is fully custom — tell us what you're picturing and we'll build the route around it.
Are there fixed start dates?
Yes — fixed departures are shown on our Upcoming Dates calendar, and multi-day expeditions are also available on request outside those dates.
Skill Level & Riders
What skill level do I need?
Solid, comfortable experience riding a motorcycle on paved roads. Some routes include short stretches of light gravel, but none of our six experiences require off-road or dirt-bike skills.
Can beginners or first-time riders join?
Our experiences are built for riders who already hold a license and ride with some confidence — not for a first time on a motorcycle. If you're new to riding, we recommend building experience at home first.
Are these trips hardcore or technical off-road riding?
No. Every route is chosen for scenery, culture, and access, not to test enduro skills — expect real Andean roads, not technical single-track.
I'm in my 60s or 70s — am I too old to ride?
There's no upper age limit. What matters is riding comfort and confidence, not age.
Does my guide speak English?
Yes — every guide is fluent in English and Spanish.
The Motorcycle & Gear
What motorcycle will I ride?
You choose between three core adventure motorcycles — the the Xpulse Rally, and the Xpulse Pro V2 — all purpose-built for mixed Andean terrain, fully prepped, maintained, and insured before every departure.
Can I ride a different motorcycle model?
Yes — beyond our three core motorcycles, other models can be arranged through our partner catalog. Tell us what you have in mind when you reserve and we'll confirm availability.
How reliable is the bike?
Every motorcycle is inspected and serviced before each departure. Your guide also carries a tool kit, tire-repair kit, and spare tubes on every ride, with a support vehicle within reach on multi-day expeditions.
What riding gear is included?
Helmet, jacket, gloves, and rain gear are provided. You're welcome to bring your own riding pants and boots if you prefer your own fit.
What should I pack?
Riding pants and boots (or use ours — ask when you reserve), casual clothes for the evenings, and a light layer for higher altitudes. We send a full packing list once you reserve.
Can I store luggage while I ride?
Yes — your guide and support vehicle carry your bags between stops, so you ride with just what you need for the day.
Safety, Insurance & Documents
What insurance is included?
Every motorcycle carries SOAT, Colombia's mandatory insurance, covering emergency medical care for riders, passengers, and third parties. It doesn't cover bike damage, theft, personal belongings, or non-emergency evacuation — independent travel insurance is recommended.
What if I drop the bike or I'm involved in an accident?
Tell your guide immediately. They're trained to handle it on the spot, from minor repairs to arranging medical care, and the support vehicle can step in if the motorcycle can't continue.
What documents do I need?
A valid motorcycle license (bring the physical card) and a valid passport. That's it.
What's your deposit and cancellation policy?
A deposit secures your spot when you reserve. Ask our team for the current deposit amount and cancellation window for your specific experience when you book.
Money, Roads & Timing
What currency should I carry, and are ATMs easy to find?
Colombian pesos are used everywhere. ATMs are common in Medellín and the towns we pass through, so you don't need to carry large amounts of cash.
What are the roads like in Colombia?
Winding, mountainous, and well-paved on our routes, with the occasional short stretch of light gravel — part of the appeal of riding the Andes.
Do motorcycles pay tolls?
Motorcycles pay reduced tolls or are exempt at most stations in Colombia. Your guide handles this along the way.
What about police or military checkpoints?
They're routine in Colombia and your guide handles them — just carry your documents.
When's the best time to ride in Colombia?
Colombia's Andes are ridable year-round thanks to the mild mountain climate. December to March and July to August tend to bring the driest stretches.
Will rain ruin my trip?
Rain gear is included and afternoon showers are normal in the mountains. Routes and days are planned to keep you riding comfortably regardless.
What about altitude?
Some routes climb above 3,000 meters. Most riders adjust with no issue — take it easy the first day if you're arriving from sea level.
